STORY:
At the very beginning of spring, in a quiet little village surrounded by snowy hills, something impossible happens.
Every snowman in the village has disappeared overnight.
Every snowman except one.
A small snowman wakes up beneath a melting blue sky and realizes that he is still alive.
He looks around.
Snow is disappearing.
Flowers are beginning to grow.
Birds are returning.
The other snowmen have become little puddles.
But he is still standing.
He touches his face in confusion.
Then a mischievous black crow lands on his shoulder.
The crow notices his bright orange carrot nose.
She slowly leans toward it.
The snowman watches her suspiciously.
Suddenly — she pulls the carrot out.
The snowman jumps backward in shock.
For the first time in his life, he makes a sound.
The crow freezes.
The snowman freezes.
They stare at each other.
Then the crow begins talking extremely quickly, waving her wings as if she has just discovered the most unbelievable thing in the world.
The snowman understands almost nothing.
While she talks, he looks at the melting world around him and slowly realizes something extraordinary:
He was supposed to melt.
But he didn’t.
Maybe something is wrong with him.
Maybe he is a defective snowman.
Maybe he is something completely new.
The crow keeps talking.
Suddenly all sound disappears.
We see the crow moving her beak and waving her wings, but there is no sound at all.
